Glacier National Park Weather Forecast and Summary

Glacier National Park

The weather in Glacier National Park is always changing and that is what makes Glacier Park so unique and so beautiful. Expect snow during any month of the year. Yes, snow in July and August has occurred at the higher elevations! The main thing to remember when you visit Glacier National Park is to be prepared for a change in the weather.

When you are in Glacier National Park, the weather you will experience depends on if you are on the east side of Glacier Park or the west side. The weather also varies based on the elevation you are at. For example, you might start your day at West Glacier where it is overcast and warm. As you drive up the Going to the Sun road, you get deeper into the mountains where the clouds start to form storm clouds. As you gain elevation to Logan Pass, afternoon thunderstorms start to build and as you hike the boardwalk to Hidden Lake, it might start to hail on you. After you complete your hike and watch the mountain goats along the trail, you head down the east side of the Continental Divide toward St Mary. The east side of Glacier Park is usually sunny, but it is also usually windy! Watch for the whitecaps on St Mary lake as you drive above the shoreline. It is a rare day when the wind isn't blowing on the east side of Glacier Park.

As we mentioned, the weather in Glacier Park is always changing and that is what makes Glacier so unique. In order to be prepared for the weather you should check both the West Glacier weather forecast and the East Glacier weather forecast.

Another great way to check the current weather conditions is to look out the window..... or take a look at the live Glacier National Park webcams.
